Day 6: Sunday, April 3rd *Update 11:59 pm

"If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or fight like hell."
~Lance Armstrong
Henry has a tough grip on his Grammy's finger!
Slowly but steadily Henry is weaning off of Nitric Oxide and Oxygen.  At this rate he may be off NO as early as 3 am tomorrow morning. They may maintain it though the night just to wait until the morning in case something were to go wrong.  Currently he's getting 31% Oxygen, quite an improvement from 100% Oxygen just 48 hours ago!  In the morning Dr. Kahn will do another test to see if Henry's lungs are ready to be downgraded to the Servo I ventilator.  Hopefully we'll be saying goodbye to the oscillator!

The most exicting news this evening was that Henry was able to have some of Mom's milk and his stomach was able to digest it. Becki was even able to gravity feed it through the new NGOG tube.

Mmmm Colostrum!
The nurses also let us change his diapers now that his catheter is out, and take his temperature.  It sounds small, but it's amazing how something so simple can bring so much joy!  We are very eager to do hands-on parenting!
We had a good visit with our family friends- the Stassis. All the kids were able to see Henry and his remarkable progress from just a few days ago.  Matt Stassi (a fellow engineer) & I filled in the boys with his condition along with numbers and discussion on how the life saving techincal machinery works. I have a feeling that when the girls went in to see Henry they discussed different topics.

Thanks for coming guys!  Your support means a lot to us.

Charlie and I hung out this evening and gave Henry a chance to spend time with his Grandmothers and Mom. It think they bonded and are already plotting to spoil him rotten. Charlie and I will do our best to make sure that doesn't happen (too bad).

Charlie and I headed towards the house in seperate cars from the ladies with the idea of going to bed early as we are planning on going to work/school tomorrow.

Eating dinner at the Ronald McDonald house
Charlie was not sleepy due to a late nap and in fact when he going to bed he kept faking that he was asleep.

Goodnight and thanks for the continued prayers.  They are working!!  Pray that tomorrow Henry's little lungs prove to be strong enough to be taken off his oscillator.
