Day 11: Friday, April 8th Update

Today was another great day!

Much to our surprise, when we got to the NICU Henry was off his CPAP!  We were expecting him to be on it for another couple of days.  Hopefully his oxygen levels will stay up and he can stay off of it this time.  It is so nice to be able to see his sweet little face!  We took lots of pictures today so we could share his cuteness.

I think he's happy to be off CPAP too.. he gave us a tiny little smile!

Trey had the day off so he was able to spend all day with Henry too.  He got to hold him again for the 2nd time!  Since they were both so comfortable, they stayed together for over 2 hours.  :)

Happy Daddy & Happy Baby!

Doesn't he look content in Daddy's arms?

So sweet!

Look at all that dark hair!
In addition to getting off the CPAP, Henry has been switched to all oral meds!  He now is only taking his Morphine & Ativan in smaller doses through his feeding tube.  This allowed them to pull out his PICC line this afternoon.

He is also receiving 58 cc's of milk now.
One of the next things to work on is his feedings.  Hopefully we'll get to attempt nursing or bottle feeding in the next few days so we can go home soon!

We had a few sweet visitors today.  We were pleasantly surprised to get a visit from my Great Aunt Lucille and cousin Tamra.  I haven't seen them in years and was touched by their effort to come visit us.  Thank you!  Our good friend Kristin also stopped by and stayed for awhile.  Thanks for coming!

Kristin with me & Henry

As you can see above, Henry has been graduated to a big boy crib!  They were able to move him since he doesn't need the heating lamp anymore.  It was fun getting to dress it up with his own blankets, including his new taggie Auntie Taryn made him!  He should also be able to start wearing some of his own clothes instead of being naked all the time.  :)

As always, right before we were needing to leave to pick up his big brother, Henry decided to wake up for the 1st time today.
Checking out his new bed.

Night night buddy!  We love you!

  1. Becki,
I just heard about Henry and have been reading the story of his recovery. I am so glad to see he is doing better and will keep you guys in my prayers. Ya'll are such great parents, and I'm really impressed with the way ya'll have understood and explained his hospital course. I hope you keep the blog open to the public. I think they way you guys explain everything will be super helpful to other families experiencing the same thing. Charlie is as handsome as ever and Henry is awesome and A-DOR-ABLE!!
