Horny Toad!

We were in Hereford, TX over the 4th of July visiting the Adams Family.  One night we were there Trey excitedly came up to the house holding a prize.  He found this little guy...
Mr. Horned Toad.  Mr. Horned Lizard.  Mr. Horned Frog.  Or what I grew up knowing them as- Horny Toads!

He has great memories of finding these endangered reptiles at his Mamaw's house in Midland.  To be honest they kind of freak me out- as do all reptiles- I mean.. they're known to spit blood from their eyes for goodness sake!  But... he was so excited to show Charlie & introduce a part of his childhood to him.
At first he wasn't too impressed with the spiky toad.
I was worried Trey would be disappointed.

But then....
He's more brave than me! No way I would touch that thing.

Wait.. maybe I don't wanna touch it. Why is he so puffy?

Watch out for the eyes!  Point him away from my baby!

Okay, Daddy. I'll pet him just for you.

Time to say goodbye to his new friend. We've stressed him out enough for his endagered life!

Farewell... may you find many yukky bugs to eat.

Thanks for being the official reptile of the great state of Texas!
I need a telephoto lens so this doesn't have to happen again.

And then just because I love y'all and I want you to feel all warm & fuzzy... here's the view I get when my sweet boy RUNS to me.
No more vampire teeth! His front center tooth finally popped through.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
xoxo

A Visit to the Blueberry Farm

A few weeks ago we went with some friends of ours to Moorhead Blueberry Farm.  It was awesome!  It's such a darling little place- family owned and operated.  They have over 20 varieties of blueberries!  I had no idea there were so many kinds.  It's completely free to get in, they greet you with a smile, give you a bucket and off you go.  We went at the end of the day because it was H-O-T.

Poor Charlie didn't feel very well.  Come to find out he had a blister on his ear drum.  Ouch!  Doesn't he look so pitiful?  Don't feel too sorry for him yet.. he's about to be really happy!

Rows and rows of these wonderful bushes lush with blueberries!

Let's go find some blueberries Daddy!

Precious in his overalls.  I love this kid.

BLUEberries!!!  The red ones aren't ripe, so are very very sour.

Time to get to pickin'!

The best part is... you get to snack as much as you want!
Yummmmm.

Feeding Daddy.

Here's Andrea & Charlie.  Andrea is exactly 1 year older.  Isn't she adorable??

Did I mention it was hot?  At this point we were begging the sun to go down.

Picking with Mommy.

We learned that the plumpest blueberries were still at the top!

As we were putting them in, he kept taking them out. :)

Do you think he likes them??

Getting more...

You want some Mama?

Must take a break from snacking for a drink.  He LOVES drinking out of sports bottles.

We don't go anywhere without a ball.  Or a book.  :)

Su & Andrea and Trey & Charlie

Precious!

They were so funny.  They didn't know what to think of each other!

After all of our picking.. doesn't look like very much!

Don't they just scream out antioxidants?

Afterwards you pay for your blueberry treasure by pound.

$3.74 for all those delicious blueberries to take home.  And a blueberry dinner.  And a whole lot of fun!  What a bargain.

This just may have to become a new family tradition!  I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something fun to do with the family in Houston in May-July.

Now... I'm thinking of using my blueberries to make this pie:

My mouth is watering.

Father's Day! (A bit late)

"Let me tell you a secret about a father's love,
A secret that my daddy said was just between us."

He said, "Daddies don't just love their children every now and then.

It's a love without end, amen.  It's a love without end, amen."

We started celebrating Trey's 2nd Father's Day by having a very special Father's Day breakfast at home.  We made delicious blueberry pancakes using fresh blueberries that we picked the day before at Moorhead's Blueberry Farm!  (Pics & Blog to follow)
Then we headed out to Katy to share the day with some other great fathers in our lives- Bob & Papaw!  Most of the day was spent in the pool.  Charlie likes to stick to his ledge.. he's still not too sure about floating in the deep stuff.

We bought him this swimsuit with a built-in floaty thing.. It was too big.  And I think he was embarrassed of looking like Leonardo the Ninja Turtle.
Look at that cute hiney!

Don't look at me Uncle Pooter.  This is humiliating.

Maybe it'll fit better next summer.

Meet Mr. Pete.  This is the coolest weenie dog you'll ever meet.  He was found living in Montrose and is now a permanent resident at my parent's home.

He loves to swim!
Charlie's learned to blow bubbles!

And that he can stop the water fountain with his hands.

He loves it!

Daaaaaad!

Walked around the corner and he was looking at himself in the mirror.  Too cute!

Off to discover the neighborhood!

My toddler.  When did he get this big?

3 of the 4 fathers in my life.  My wonderful step-dad Bob, my sweet Papaw, and my hubby.  Charlie & I are very lucky to have them in our lives!

Charlie with his Poppy & Great Papaw.  LOVE this!

And now here's some pictures of Charlie & Trey together on Father's Day.  Thank you for being such an amazing father to our little boy!
